I'm super lame at blogging lately. In my defense, though, I am just getting back into the swing of things with school starting, a new place, a new roommate, a new dog (the roomie's dog), and grad classes.
Basically, my day consists of waking up, going to school, staying late, coming home, watching the dogs engage in wrestle mania, yelling at the dogs, chatting with my roommate, doing schoolwork (either work or grad class), washing my face, going to bed. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
A few little funnies along the way, though.
John Cena, Jr: "Ms. L! Why I gotta tell you these words all the time?"
Me: "So you can be a fabulous reader! These are words we see all the time when we read and we can't sound them out because they are rule breakers. So we're going to keep practicing to be all star readers!"
JCJ: "Can't we just tell everyone I can read?"
No, Johnny Jr. we can't tell them that. It's actually my job to teach you. Even though you don't want to learn and tell me that on a semi-regular basis.
A past kiddo had the audacity to tell me, "My new teacher is my favorite teacher. You were just my longest teacher."
Um, excuse me buddy? I put up with your shenanigans for 3 years. I taught you to read. I taught you to actually be a decent human being. She's put up with you for like 32 seconds and she takes my reigning title? Kids. No respect.
And... I may or may not have accidentally tripped over the SMARTBoard (it has yet to be hung.. grrrr.) and fell flat on my face. My kiddos came to my rescue and were very concerned for my safety. They suggested we tell the principal it had to be hung up immediately so nobody else would get hurt.
My little cutie pie has started talking up a storm! He's normally non-verbal and while that was utterly obnoxious, it's difficult to discourage his talking even when he's interrupting me. He totally comes out with some funny stuff and is a little parrot. He's all bossy and shiz to my other kid and the other kid (who is approximately 89 times his size and 2 grades older) totally takes it. I have to hide my laughter.
But thank goodness it's Friday. I need a break.

Excuses, Excuses...

Sorry...
Okay, I know I've been a little... uh...absent.
But I have good reasons, er, excuses. First off, I attended not one but two weddings this weekend. One in Pittsburgh on Friday and then one in DC on Saturday. So I drove over 500 miles in 24 hours and that left very little time to blog.
Oh! And? Hubby.. well, his computer crashed. And by crashed, I mean water spilled. All over it. We're not quite sure how it happened. It either involved a tipsy hubby who was a little overzealous with his water OR a puppy with a wicked tail wag. Either way, we're down a computer and neither of us knows how to share. *Yes, I realize I teach little ones, I teach them to share everyday, but I just.cannot.for.the.life.of.me share my computer.
Probably the biggest reason I've been absent? I've been reading The Pioneer Woman's Love Story: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels. If you haven't heard of Pioneer Woman, you don't know what you're missing. Seriously. You'll be so obsessed with reading her love story. It's straight from the heart, eloquently written, and totally consumes your life. Thankfully I was lucky enough to be able to read start to finish. My online google chat best friend, Jessica, wasn't quite so lucky. She was stuck waiting ever so patiently for the next chapter, begging for more.
So.. go read. You'll thank me later. Seriously. (Mom-- this means you, too! Be careful, though, you might need tissues. And 12 hours to waste)

Whoa.
I have a lot to catch up on. Here's a run down, more for my sake than yours (you know, so I don't forget..), but I'm sure you'll eagerly anticipate my blogging about each topic.
- pole dancing
- new tattoo
- stuck in a bathroom in the airplane while violently shaking up and down
I'll be back, promise.

While the cat's away...
.. the mice will play? Um.. or not. Just trying to find something witty.
Anyway.. I know I've been MIA for a few days. I'm sure you were all happy to avoid the daily snark waiting to send the search parties and all, but I'm here.
The family I used to nanny for is in town visiting from Michigan so I've been busy playing tour guide and spending time with the family. It has been a lot of fun! We went down to the mall on Saturday, the National Zoo on Sunday (which was A.MAZ.ING, by the way!), and the National Aquarium in Baltimore today (also amazing). Tomorrow is back to reality.
Apparently my kids were terrors not so good in my absence, so it's time to whip them back into shape.
And... I may have jury duty Wednesday. I was lucky enough to avoid it today and tomorrow, but there's a chance I could get called Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. I'm SO annoyed they do it for a week at a time. I simply cannot plan out my week if I don't know whether or not I'll be stuck in a courtroom. By the way.. what does one wear to jury duty? Hm..
